Frank graduated from Humboldt State University in Northern California and built a sterling photo-Frank leaning on a redwood logreputation for honesty and accuracy during his 15 years as a journalist at the Gridley Herald, Appeal Democrat and Sacramento Bee, winning awards for investigative reporting, especially a Kiplinger Fellowship at Ohio State, where he got his master's degree. Frank was managing editor of the Napa Valley Register for four years, one of the finest small-medium sized newspapers in the country. He then spent a year as a college professor, before moving to Fort Bragg to be near his mother, Betty Lou, and his girlfriend, Susan.

Frank also loves Packard automobiles, Sierra-Nevada exploration, his dog Sturmz, and rare books. He is active in many community groups on the Mendocino Coast.

Frank's writing appears in local, regional, and national publications.
